Is this different from spa 2102-r?

All Sunrocket SPA2102s I've come across shipped labeled SPA2102-R. However, not all SPA2102-Rs are necessarily Sunrocket's. The -R means that the adapter is factory configured with a default provisioning rule set to "RC". This setting makes the adapter, when fresh out of the box, remote customize (hence "RC") with default settings obtained from a secure HTTPS server at sipura.net. Until the adapter has successfully performed this remote customization, its web interface's Info page will show it as being in a "Customization: Pending" state, in which its voice functions and all admin level features are disabled. Cisco/Linksys/Sipura match the adapter's MAC address with the provider who ordered it, and customize it with default settings according to the provider's instructions. Following the customization, the Customization field will report the name of the provider, which will be "Sunrocket" in Sunrocket's case.

Examples of some other companies that ship SPA2102 adapters that are remote customized and labeled -R or -R1, and where the customization field shows the company's name, are Broadvoice, Clearwire, italkbb, HawkVoip (Joiphone).

So, just from a -R suffix, it's not possible to conclude conclusively whether the adapter is from Sunrocket. Similarly, it may be possible that some Sunrocket SPA2102s shipped that were not labeled -R. However, since your adapter does not have the -R, and does not exhibit the characteristics typical of Sunrocket units (among others, the ability to log into the user level page at the standard port 80, without a password), it's highly unlikely that you have one of theirs.

To find out what you have, I suggest you try my suggestions in the following thread: »[Unlock] SPA2102 - locked to which provider?

DogFace05 posted : The unlocking instructions you find on the Internet are only applicable for adapters from specific providers. They are all based on prior knowledge of certain characteristics (eg, weaknesses) of or settings (usually leaked passwords) in the configurations provisioned into their adapters by said providers. None of the methods are generally applicable to any arbitrary provider's adapters.

The password 78778839 is only relevant to SPA2102s provisioned by Sunrocket during a specific time period while they were in operation. At the time of Sunrocket's demise, the company was already provisioning these adapters with a completely different password. Furthermore, the factory reset default password in SR's SPA2102s is yet another value, one that is so long that it cannot be entered by IVR.

In any case, you'll only be able to unlock your SPA2102, following instructions devised for Sunrocket SPA2102s, if and only if you have a Sunrocket locked SPA2102. You will have to determine if that is the case with your adapter.

To do that, you need to browse to the adapter's user level pages at its LAN side IP address, from a computer connected into its LAN port (yellow, labeled "Ethernet"). You'll obtain the SPA2102's LAN side IP address by entering the IVR, and dialing 210# (not 110#, which reports its WAN side IP).

If you have a Sunrocket SPA2102, you should be taken right into the basic user level page by browsing to its LAN side IP address. There, under the Info tab, look for the "Customization" field. If it shows "Sunrocket", you have a Sunrocket customized adapter, in which case you should be able to unlock it with the video instructions, or the Live-CD method.

If not, and you intend to unlock it yourself, your only alternative is to find instructions specifically devised for SPA2102s from the provider to whom it's locked. You may be able to identify a provider by looking for a suffix to the SPA2102 model name. For example, if it's labeled SPA2102-AN, it will be a unit from ACN Digital. Although the most common source of SPA2102s is the now defunct Sunrocket, there are many other providers who have supplied or currently supply this adapter.
