That was a totally baseless statement and is about as logical as saying Windows Media Player or iTunes is geared towards playing stolen music. Both play most of what Winamp plays.

Just like saying that Windows Media Player is geared toward playing pirated DVD's... -- "When it comes to technology, if you are not part of the steamroller, you are part of the road." -Anon. When Winamp first came out it played MP3s, almost all of which were pirated at the time (1996ish). Obviously I wasn't talking about the AOLified version in use now.

Weird, my copy simply played whatever music I asked it to. Radio stations, CD silvers, CD backups, whatever.
Weird that it expected you to go to HMV and five-finger discount your music. Perhaps you got a Russian mafia hacked version of some kind? Gotta pay enough "protection" money for us to stop releasing this "special" Winamp!
Beats me.
Or did you mean it could play music that was copied illegally? In that case, yes, just like my walkman played original cassettes AND dubbed cassettes, winamp could do the same thing with CDs. Is that really a surprise to you?
