Re: [IA] New HD box... annoying problem

said by hawkeye_wx:

I've been watching my local HD channels via QAM for several months. Yesterday I decided to finally get an HD box from Mediacom. It is a Pace DC757X box. The problem is when I'm watching an analog feed there is often a thick flickering line along the top of the screen. It is a bit of a distraction. Anyone experience something like this? Should I trade it in for a different box?
I ran into this problem too when watching analog channels on my projector. i think these lines are actually suppose to be there. The way I corrected this on my projector was to adjust the overscan setting, which basically removed a line of pixels. A lot of tv's do this automatically, but some of the newer tv's allow you to turn the feature off. I think it's called 1:1 or something like that. Basically, it allows you to see all the pixels when watching a blu-ray or other 1080P source. You may be able to adjust this setting.

Yep.. Lucas is exactly right. Another way that will probably work is to set the box to native output, that way it outputs the SD channels at 480i, in which your TV will 99.9% likely automatically adjust the overscan settings.
