The Swedish Government knew they couldn't beat the power of TPB into submission with legal threats so like the old saying goes & taking a page from the Bill Gates playbook: "If you cant beat 'em BUY them". Taking out the largest public tracker *in the world*, is no small feat.. Having the founders of the site facing huge fines & jail terms made their decision to sell out to a company just waiting for them to do so really the only one that could be made other then to shut the site down entirely which accomplishes the same thing....It probably would have been better for them to be seen by the world "going down with the ship" rather then selling out... I hope they do the right thing and at least nuke their IP address logs for the last 5 years so the new Pirate Bay owners won't be able to turn that information over to any authorities that will invariably come sniffing to ask for it.

Global Gaming Factor was not buying TPB for their tracker collection.....Based on the currently available data, they bought it for 2 reasons: 1.) The website name. It's one of the top 100 most visited site on the internet. Great way to catch the noobs unawares.... Plus they've taken out the worlds largest public tracker that powers most of the other torrent sites out there 2.) The IP addresses & member logs of everyone that's visited in the last x. number of years & what torrents they downloaded...etc....etc. Get ready for more ISP infringement notices to come out closer to the end of the year after the data gathered from the Pirate Bay Server's has been mined and categorized. Anyone can say that they don't keep records, but by their very nature websites log all kinds of data from many different sources that can be mined and used to identify you if enough time is spent at it....Plus how can anyone continue trust anything that comes out of the mouths of any member of TPB staff after they sold out? They've proven the only ones they're loyal to are themselves...wherever that loyalty takes them apparently. Hero's of the people my ass...
