Re: Got to love the media ownership/relationships!

I don't follow mainstream much anymore but I assume Canada still has media blackouts during elections and trials. Wonder how that is going to work with Twitter around.

This is why it's important to get your news from multiple sources, kids.

Seriously, one of the many (many, many) great things about the internet is that it allows us to have access to so much information and so many different angles. I pull stories from CBC, BBC, AP, Reuters, and Diplo, among others. It all comes up in a handy dandy rss newsticker, so I can keep nice and connected. I haven't picked up an actual newspaper in years, except occasionally to thumb through the flyers in the local rag. Also why net neutrality is such a key issue, but I have a feeling I'm preaching to the choir on that one.

Keep fighting the good fight.

What is complex about it ?

There is Canwest, CTV Globemedia, Quebecor Media and Rogers.
(One can add Thompson and Transcontinental for print-only media)

Just about every media outlet that is not CBC belongs to one of those.
You are so smart, SMRT!

Plus all the print media just pull their stories off of CP or AP.

I don't know if this is good or bad but I cannot find my local radio station on that cbc diagram... This is mildly disturbing.
Look under the other link... it will likely be a sub of something in there.

It is seriously one very bad and complex web that has been woven at this point!

I find it suspicious that comments on the CBC story are closed after only six comments.

Try and claim fair coverage after that...

Yeah, and just imagine if they decided to push their own personal view of politics through all their media outlets.

Don't mean to put the tinfoil hat on but darn that's a lot of control on what we see and hear!
