Obviously one type of resistor does not work with anyone as 100K ohm works for some and did not for me. There are several versions of the magic jack unit, they all must have a slightly different problem with the caller id.

Also, why do you have to spam this site with your garbage adaptor. That site you linked to does not even have a price on it.

Just purchased a "MOJITA" device.

This has the correct resistor in the device and very easy to use.

They should have put one male on the device instead of two females.

(Funny thing is address of MOJITA is in the same zipcode as VONAGE).

They say 30 day money back....

Paid with PayPal so that should not be a problem.

Yes, I was speaking of internal wiring.

The Gods only know what AT&T would make of dialtone coming INTO their system from elsewhere.

When you forget about the $19.95/yr, this is almost as much fun as blueboxing.

well if you are using VoIP (magicjack) external line conditions shouldn't play a part in it because they shouldn't be used. Unless you like giving out your dial tone for free

Now internal wiring issue I agree that might play a factor, and DrStrange would be correct in that one.

I think the value of the resistor is dependent on individual line conditions. I wasn't able to get caller ID to work with a 100Kohm resistor, but it did work with a 220Kohm resistor [yes, they were 1/4 watt].

Anyone trying to use this fix may want to experiment with several values of resistance. 100K is probably the low end of the range. the upper end is probably between 680K and 1 megohm.

What wattage resistor did you use? 1watt? 1/2 watt? 1/4 watt?

I did not see this posted, but I had the problem where my uniden cordless does not show the caller ID on it.

Other people posted to use a 100K ohm resistor in parallel to the phone by connecting it to the red and green wire.
This did not work for me as when I did this or any lower resistance the phone would no longer ring and the caller ID still did not show up. I tired a 680K ohm resistor and the caller ID now works perfectly and the phone operates correctly.

So if anyone has a phone where the caller ID is not showing up while using magic jack just get a 680K ohm resistor. I used a phone jack with screw terminals to connect the resistor in parallel so I did not have to solder anything.
