AT&T DMCA Warning letters

Does AT&T send out DMCA warning letters like comcast? If anyone has seen one can you point me in its direction?

I need it for a school project. Thanks in advance...

Bill

I've never heard of AT&T doing DMCA warning letters.

Ok! I admit it. I'm dumb! But I want to do better.

What is a DMCA warning letter?

DMCA = Digital Millennium Copyright Act. This law give certain recourse to copyright holders in pursuit of copyright violators. Part of the Act is a provision that a copyright holder can send a "cease and desist" notice to an ISP regarding a customer that the copyright holder believe to be acting in violation of the copyright holders rights.

What isn't clear to me (and perhaps anyone other than an attorney specializing in copyright law) is how the notice should be handled by the ISP. It seems that the law requires the ISP to forward the notice to the putative offending customer; and some ISPs actually do that.

I thought DMCA law required ISPs to at least forward DMCA takedown e-mails?

Not sure it would really matter in the end.

Actually, an ISP would be doing their customers a favor/courtesy if they forwarded DMCA complaints, whether the act requires this or not.

I would rather have them do that instead of just ratting the customer out without them even being aware of it.
