Comparing pairs in the same bundle will get you the shortest cable, but that's the worst one to use. The shorter the cable, the fewer twists it has. Pairs with more twists will be more resistant to noise, even though they're longer.
Pairs 1, 17, and 9 are the best for DSL because they have the most twists. Pair 10 is the worst.
There are cases where CO cables take different paths. A couple of times, I've noticed some cable tests shorter, and written a note in the SAC box.
The way to test length on different cables is to pick a pair, and test the same pair in each bundle.
Either way, if you get full speeds, that's what's really important, not what pair you're on. |
