My fellow DK tanks, I am in need of some stat stacking questions. If you check out Gadeon (Hellscream/Alliance) I am trying to figure out which stats are the main priorty. I am DEF capped of course, but should I gem for Expertise, Dodge, Parry, or even Stam. I am close to 50% avoidance right now, and just want to make sure I am going about everything the right way. I know I had a reply of stacking STA, but which items should I replace STA with? It is a tricky question. |

| reply to Quickdamage Yeah, I think I am going to goof off. I went with a 2 hand Blood spec, with a slight buff to the tank on some fights and was even thinking about doing a build with Blood/Frost instead of Unholy. I will play around this weekend and try and figure something out.
And you are right. GO ARMY! |

1 edit | reply to Gadeon from everything I have read, the top DW specs are either frost or unholy. Not saying that it won't work or you won't do a good amount of damage, just that the other two trees are proven to out dps a blood DW build. The reason for this is because so much of your damage comes from magic (frost strike, icy touch, howling blast on rime procs) and there is no magic multlipliers in the blood field. |

| reply to Gadeon I guess since we are talking about DK in this forum. I am thinking about trying out a Blood DW spec. Not sure how I am going to make it work. Maybe just go into the talents for DW hit chance increase, and then spec the rest into Blood. With the amount of Armor Pen I have, and hit rating, and the two maces I got from H ToC (close to 2. something weapon speed) I think I can still pull it off. What do you think? |

| reply to slashr Hell no. I prefer to drive. Even if that means waking up two hours earlier and waiting in traffic. I like to relax in my own car, in the AC, without racket being caused from other people. Not to mention that stench. Any of you play on Hellscream? Always looking for fellow area people to play with. Wife hates the game, so I am almost by myself out here. |

| reply to Krisnatharok Well, I have checked other sites for us DK tanks, and am still a little curious as to what we should try to get our Expertise at. I hear our soft cap is 23, and I am around 26 like I said without food and elixr. If that is true, and I can use food to make that soft cap, then I can replace a couple of reg gems that I have 16 Expertise in currently and maybe get the 40 Sta enchant to bracers. Kris, I am an Army guy myself and live in Herndon. Where I am at now I can't link my armory, but if you look up gadeon on hellscream, check out my specs and let me know if you have any advice on those. Always looking for experienced DKs to help better myself. I am always in the top 3 in DPS in 10 or 25 mans, and just seem to always be needed as a tank for heroics and the lower 25 mans. Thanks all. And happy Friday. |

| reply to Gadeon said by Gadeon : However, what are the odds us DKs can pull of DW tanking? Short answer: NEVER. Google "boss parry haste."
For your tank, I'd suggest gemming straight stam. -- "One can lead a child to knowledge, but one cannot make him think."

| reply to Krisnatharok Well, what I have learned since the patch for my blood spec is simple. I replaced Unholy Blight with Dancing Rune weapon, and have seen my DPS increase since the patch. At this point my Armor Pen is around 60% with gear and talents, and I am still trying for the trinket from 25 Nax and/or ToC regular. I am around 28 expertise at this point also. I am also trying a Blood tank Spec, and finally found a way to stay DEF cap without using Stoneskin Gargoyle. So, I went with the Parry rating one and my avoidance is around 48% without using trinkets or cooldowns. In 25 mans I am sitting around 40k health, and here is my main question. Should DK tanks start gemming for STA like some of the other tanks out there, or should we still focus on the Avoidance stats like Parry/Dodge? I know we need Defense cap first, so that is a given. My expertise at this point in tank spec is around 26 without Expertise food and elixr. I have also tried to level up a couple Ulduar 10 man one hand tank weapons, which give me even more Avoidance. However, what are the odds us DKs can pull of DW tanking? Thanks for anyhelp. |

| reply to MrAwesome Hmmm...sounds tempting, I think I may go ahead and spec blood tonight for something to do. I have my duel spec but only put points into one of them for now since I am not really doing anything but helping my alts on my other account level Soooo...I think I will try that out tonight and see how I like it. Of course I am going to have to wait another month or so to really test it out but I can at least get the feel of it for now. |

| reply to Pariah666 said by Pariah666 : I have yet to try a blood build. I have always went Unholy 97% of the time or Frost for the rest. One of these days I may get bored and try out a Blood build just for shits and giggles. I've used Unholy for a long time as DPS in raids and heroics. One really bored day, i decided to test out blood DPS. Knowing my trash DPS will fall a little i attempted a Heroic, and noticed that my overall DPS went from 2.8k dps to 3.6k dps. And that was Overall, so i was doing significant more dps on average. What made me decide to go Blood was after i won the roll on the Ironsoul 2handed mace and i had a massive amount of armor penetration gear, which is a stat best suited for Blood (since it's mostly physical dmg).
As for PvP, i'm still using 2hander in frost, and i still seem to do fine. Even though frost srtike can now be dodged, blocked or parried i still get a lot of 6k crits and over 8k crits with Obliterate. |

1 edit | reply to Krisnatharok This is just my opinion but
Class adjustments aka nerfing just does not work. The developers can continue to try to equalize players until everyone logs out for the last time and cancels their subscriptions and they will still be no closer to that all important PvP balance.
Why? Because as hard as they are working to equalize our classes the most elite players with the best heads on their shoulders are looking for an edge. Its the edge that keeps PvPers playing and finding it is more than 50% of the thrill of PvPing.
Each of our classes has benefits all of us have been pwned by someone at some point, who hasn't prayed to the nerf gods that they remove the perma para rouge attacks that keep you standing there helpless why they rip you to threads?
What I believe is that as players it should be our job to overcome these obstacles not the developers because eventually they will figure out the only true 100% sure way to balance us is to take away all of our ranged attacks, our critical attacks, our armor benefits, to remove penetration and haste, to give everyone the same amount of health to remove all the race benefits and any other element that makes base damage more than one or allows us to take any damage less than 1. Who wants to play that game.... ever? |

1 edit | reply to Quickdamage Sadly I have no clue. I popped on the PTR this morning after work because of maintenance without realizing that Omen and Recount weren't installed.
Someone posted a link afterwards and I was pulling 5200dps avg on Sarth (reset after the drakes and trash). Assuming it was a movement-heavy fight what with the waves or not, I was pleased.
Unholy Blight is automatically applied to the target when it is hit by a Death Coil, and it takes an additional 30% damage of the Death Coil over 10 seconds. So if it crits, leave it alone and save your RP, because your ticks will be much higher.
This was done in the T8 gear Blizz gives premade characters.
I really wanted to test the DW Thassarian build, but Blizzard still hates DW DKs... I had no one-handers in my inventory!
EDIT: Also, the Unholy Blight glyph is screwed up, so I didn't use it. I'm still waiting to see what Blizz will do with it now that UB has been redesigned.

What sort of DPS were you pulling against bosses? Also, at what gear level was this done? |
