Re: Cabling(between wall jack and modem) My dsl is split at the NID. From there I used a cat5e cable to pull dsl on one pair and another voice extension on another pair in the same cable to a dual port box/jack. DSL line on one side and voice on the other. This cat5e run is about 18 from the NID to the jack. Not ideal probably, but I have no issues.
From the dsl jack I use a regular, premade cat3 phone patch cord, 2 pair cable into a surge protector and the same kind of cable straight into the modem from the surge protector
They have sent me replacement modems twice, though they were never the problem, both times it was my dslam profile that needed rebuilding for some reason. I have never had any noticeable issues with line speed/quality that didnt trace back to another router up stream.
I should probably also state that my speed is 768k plan. This may matter; Im not sure. |
