Re: Charter to upgrade Minnesota network by $7 million

I am actually on the 16 Meg Tier plan, but I was told it really is the 20 Meg plan in Alexandria. Apparently not all of MN is ready for 20/2. I pay 72.99 for the plan and I live in your area by tastefully simple - about 1.5 miles away.

I'm getting 20/2 now in Alex and I'm constantly downloading between 19 & 20. It's great, 8 Gig an hour.
Do you have to ask for it? I just recently locked into a price guarantee for 2 years and when I asked them if they had 20meg service they told me it wasn't available (this just being in June.)

I don't really care as 10meg service does the job (with 3 directv dvr's downloading content I can still stream HD just fine.)

Also how much do you pay and about where in Alex are you located? I'm over by tastefully simple...

Well say hello to 20meg internet service finally... hopefully when they raise the speed the service level doesn't go down... I get rock solid 10/1 any time of the day and it hardly ever goes down.

Is Charter ever going to add channels (SD or HD), upgrade their boxes to mpeg-4, or upgrade their network to Docsis 3.0? They haven't upgraded a thing here in Upstate South Carolina.
I believe mpeg-4 is a long ways off... that would mean new headends, new boxes and a lot of money.

I think docsis 3 will get rolled out long before mpeg-4.

Prior to getting rid of my TV service from charter they were adding more HD... but once I got my own home and could get DirecTV it was bye bye charter for TV. Love DirecTV so far.

Gotta agree. I'd also say 50% of that as well will be mismanaged by Charter. And more importantly what will 7million get them?

$7 million isn't really that much is the world of communication technology. It's still good news

They need to bring some money here, and bring D3 to the UP

Nice! I'm guessing that means 20/2 service sometime soon.

Unfortunately TV was too little/too late (I have 3 DVR's and was not going to spend $60 a month on 3 DVR's that only have 160GB's of storage... I spent $16 a month on 3 HD DVR's with 500GB's of hard drive space and got one of them free, had to pay $199 ea for the other two but it's still a better deal.) Also the fact that they are trying to bring more HD channels is definitely a good sign.

If they bring 20meg service I'll grab that but even if 60meg service is available I don't think I'd go for that (too spendy.)
