said by Kkrazee1 :Can you or anybody help me set up a NEW Buffalo WHR-HP-G54 with DD-WRT flashed on it. It is new and I can't get it to let me connect to the internet via my main computer. IP address is my weak point. I don't know how to set up the DD-WRT software that was put on it. I just want it to work as a WIRELESS ROUTER off my MAIN Computer. ANY HELP> THANKS My E-Mail is davidhuellewig "at" msn.com if you can send any setup info. tried the DD-WRT web site and don't understand all the AP/Client/Bridge stuff. I am 60 and need some help. Please contact me via my E-Mail as I had a hard time getting to this point on a Forum. It's suppose to connect automatically with DD-WRT and your modem. The only thing you do is setup the Wireless and Wireless Security. If you need help more help the DD-WRT forum community will help you. Also you can download from there the DD-WRT manual. But all of this should be on your CD for the router. Did you look at the CD for help? |

| Tipstir, It won't do anything when I boot up my computer. The guys at buffalo won't give help because it was flashed with DD-Wrt software. That's the way it came though in a SEALED BOX with a Buffalo Seal. Don't understand that but one source had info that buffalo actually was selling units already flashed with v24 sp1. I don't know what to do as the manual that came with it does not cover DD-wrt. Dave |

| OK,you can access the modem at »192.168.1.1 .
The Netopia Cayman modems DHCP server will need to be set to an IP range, where it allow Static IP address to be use. The default range of the DHCP server,in your modem is 192.168.1.2 to 192.168.1.254 . This setting doesn't allow Static IP addresses to be used, and causes IP address conflicts. Set the DHCP server,in the modem,to a smaller range. Like 192.168.1.100 to 192.168.1.150. Save settings
Now,what you need to do is setup the Buffalo router,as I discribed earlier in this thread,as an Access Point. Change the Buffalo's LAN IP address to 192.168.1.2,Subnet Mask 255.255.255.0 ,and the Gateway IP to 192.168.1.1 . Save settings
Also, remember to change the DHCP type to DHCP Forwarder and set the DHCP Server's IP address to 192.168.1.1. Save settings -- Got a Clark,Crown,Drexel forklift and need technical advice? Ask me about it. |

| You would access the it buy entering the IP address you assigned the AP. So there the scenario,Modem is 192.168.1.1,and AP is 192.168.1.2.
You would enter the appropriate IP address for each unit,to access it. -- Got a Clark,Crown,Drexel forklift and need technical advice? Ask me about it. |
