As : Pentaxian : said no macro lens for portraits.

A macro lens is for shooting on a 1:1 scale (life size) or better , in some cases 1:3 .
I doubt you could fit the kids in a 5x7 frame on a 1:1 life size.
Also when doing portraits most people don't like that much detail that shows all their imperfections .
