Is the laptop where no adapter found by chance an HP???

 I would like some help with my wireless connection please.
I have 2 laptops.
The first one used to connect to the internet by my ethernet and now it doesn't. I cant even find any adapters on the computer anymore....they seemed to disappear!?
My second laptop, I can connect just fine using ethernet and I used to connect by wireless but now it it won't and it is saying my wireless is just fine and up to date.
What?
Any help would be appreciated, thanks!
