[AZ] Computer TV Tuner Card Advise Needed

I would like to watch Cox digital TV on my computer and was wondering what TV Tuner Card you are using with success. I will not use any cox box just stright out of the wall to the tuner card.

What brand and model are you using successfully?

If this is not allowed here please PM your answers

you will not get any digital cable channels without a cable card equipped pc. if you just want the unencrypted digital channels a qam tuner should work.

To add to what ajwees41 said, I haven't been keeping up on it, but I believe the only cablecard tuners are external USB, and are pretty strictly sold only as OEM with new PCs with Media Center. Shame the MPAA and the likes have such a stranglehold on new media technology; it's reminiscent of HDMI and HDCP requirements.

I think I want what you said in the end.
"if you just want the unencrypted digital channels a qam tuner should work."
I want to watch TV on my monitor using cox regular TV service whatever it is called from the wall outlet.
This is what I do in my bedroom Digital TV set without a box.

SO are you saying yes it will work as long as I get a QAM tuner.

Most cable card tuners are USB but some OEM's have been shipping internal as well.
I have an HVR2250 and get both QAM and analog with it with no trouble. I think Cox isn't always as giving as some other companies because we only get the local channels on QAM but even then, I don't get them all. I get the biggies but not all the PBS and independent local ones.

I was planning to buy the following HD TV Tuner card for my computer.
Hauppauge
HVR-1250
PCI-Express
»www.hauppauge.com/site/products/···250.html

I plan on watching the basic channels straight out of the wall with no cable box.
Anyone else doing this on their computer?

Your tuner doesn't accept a CableCard.
