[northwest] Any new installs since frontier?

Just moved to Hillsboro, zip code 97229 on cornelious pass road between galice and west union. VZ website insists I can't get fios.

I don't know if it's actually available or not, maybe someone here knows about this location?

What's happening since the sale to frontier? Are they still expanding in Hillsboro? Do I have any chance of getting fiber at this location?

The news has definitely slowed down new installs around here, and many people don't want to switch knowing they are just going to be sold to another company. Looks like you are stuck with dsl, or comcast for a while.

I could be wrong, but it looks like that suburban nightmare wasn't more than a field too long ago. I don't see many poles in the area so they would have to do quite a bit of digging in people's yards to get their fiber laid if they didn't get the chance when they were just setting up the streets. Maybe it's a home owners association, and they don't want Verizon digging up people's yards to put in boxes.

Maybe you can get your answer here, but I'd call them, at least you could express interest.

Edit: If you're in the apartment complex there, maybe they have a deal with comcast which I wouldn't hold past them, or maybe the owners don't want to let them into the complex.

$45 per hour if you want to help.
$75 per hour if you tried to fix it, and failed.
$125 per hour if you called tech support, and didn't fix the issue while making things worse

Oh really? And how many installs are we doing today as opposed to before the announcement? Maybe you're a Vz employee and have access to some hard numbers to support that statement? I doubt it.

Oregon still had technicians on loan from Florida up until a week or so ago to keep up with the demand.

And the fiber construction department has more work than they can handle right now. They've been backed up for quite some time . They were even building out Orient, OR. Never heard of Orient? Look it up - it's in the sticks.

Back the OPs post, it has everything to do with where he lives. I'm sure he's in those apartments there. FIOS is available everywhere around there except those apts. I peronally have done at least one install on NW Galice Ln itself.

If the OP wanted fios so bad, next maybe he'll look into availability before signing the lease. FIOS is available in many apartments all around there. NW Chemeketa Ln has had FIOS for years for example.

I'll almost bet my next paycheck that Verizon has approached the building management about putting in FIOS but they declined for whatever reason.

As with any Large Acquisition, it's subject to approval from all state/federal governing bodies... This acquisition will likely take more than a year to come to fruition, and that is only if everything is approved... A lot can happen in a year but the deal is likely done...

Work here in Ft Wayne has stayed the same before and after the merger...steady...we are in the midwest however and there are no expansions happening in this area and even before the merger there weren't any... Almost like the plan was to sell us all along...

Yeah I'm in the amartment complex. The NID on the side of the building has a VZ sticker, but the management did push Comcast pretty strongly upon movein. Someone mentioned a possible exclusive deal which might be whats happening.

I knew what the VZ website said when I signed the lease. And actually my Comcast has been working flawlessly for several months now. But you know how it is - why have Comcast if Fios is available

If the apartment complex is keeping you from getting FIOS and the equipment/infrastructure is already there they are breaking the law. »www.fierceiptv.com/story/appeals···09-05-29

I don't know for sure if there is any exclusive deal between the apt mgmt and comcast. If I can find out of FIOS is available on NW Galice Ln near Cornelious, then it likely is just a matter of running it into the apt complex.

VZFbrSplicer, I was told by quite a few Verizon employees that Fios was coming out to the Leo area. I know that there are several neighborhoods along State Road 1 that have Fios and a few months ago I saw some Verizon trucks out doing utility work just outside of Leo. Is it safe to assume now that it may have only been copper maintenance and not fiber being laid?

The best way to find out if FiOS is available is to call them. The website has never worked for my address, but giving them a call confirmed that it was available and they got it all set up.

BTW, I'm over by the intersection of Brookwood & Main (Baseline).
