well, that is about 50,000 kms so that is probably about right...however, you might just need brake service and not brake replacement...i get my brakes serviced about once every 18 months and it seems to help the components last longer and work better. -- Today's motto: Dearly beloved, We are gathered here today to bid farewell to personal responsibility and accountability. |

| reply to ToadisMcG brakes are brakes...that said, depending on how old the other cars were, there may be different tools required to work on the VW that you may not have...parts may be a little more as well, but the basic principle should be the same...i assume you have a lot of mileage on that car, because it is barely two years old...i didn't have to do my first brake job on my Taurus until it was just over 5 years old. -- Today's motto: Dearly beloved, We are gathered here today to bid farewell to personal responsibility and accountability. |

| So I need to change my breaks on the Jetta, but before I get into it I wanna know if there is anything special I'll need.
I've done brakes on American cards before, never foreign and I've heard some horror stories of the complicated German systems.
Has anyone changed the brakes on a newer VW and if so, do I need special tools? -- Um, maybe later? |
