| [Deep] Long Overdue Update
Hi All,
My love affair with Facebook is over and I have come home to stay.  I got involved in Mafia Wars over there and got my accts. disabled for no reason. I am definitely anti-Facebook now. Who needs it anyway?
First of all, my mom's cancer is growing again.  She had a CT scan done on June 15th. Her tumor in her upper left lung and the lymph nodes near her aortic arch grew by 1 cm since her scan in March. Mom is starting more chemo next week. She will be doing Alimta once every three weeks. It's a quick infusion. We are all in this for the long haul!!!! I lost my dad to this damn disease and I am trying harder than hell not to lose my mom to it. Cancer sucks! (I am not working due to all of this and the economy... No sense in beating my head against the wall job hunting or working!)
Next.... I lost my beloved Callie on May 15th due to probably kidney failure. It happened so fast. I knew Callie was not doing 100% for awhile. It seemed like she was not taking care of herself as she should have. Callie did not like our dogs... They teased her and she would hiss and spit at them. Well on May 15th, Callie laid in the living room floor and she never did that. I took her to the vet and the decision was made to euthanize her. I stroked her little head as the vet put her to sleep. Callie would have been 17 years old at the end of August. I miss her!
Finally, we took my dad's ashes to Arkansas to bury them at the beginning of May. Much of my dad's immediate family was there... His four sisters and thirteen of the fifteen cousins in my generation were there! It was sooo nice to see that many family members there. My dad's ashes are buried in an old family cemetery near my dad's youngest sister's chicken farm.

Kristi, it is so good to see you on the forum again. I am sorry to hear that your mom is going through a bit of a setback. I am sure she will rebound...especially with the help you've been giving her!
I am so sorry to hear about Callie. I know she was your sweetie. I am proud that you were able to make the decision to euthanize - I know it is very, very hard to do.

So you got pink slipped at facebook because of Mafia Wars? It's a pretty common occurrence with that game. I was warned once so I became very careful how often I posted or added friends. Funny how they kick you off if you use and enjoy the site too much. |

kristi, I've been invited to mafia wars and didn't know what it is all about and figured, eah, facebook is ok, but it doesn't do much for me, only that I can keep in touch with a few family members.
My earnest prayers have been sent out and I will continue with them. Glad to hear from you.
I hope you can have some peace of mind considering your loss. My guinea pig died just a little while ago and it ripped my heart out for a few days, she was my little snuggle bug.

Nothing I can say that hasn't been said already. I know you are going through a very tough time and being unemployed doesn't help, does it? That's one thing I really liked about being employed in the beginning of my mom's illness. It was a time to turn off from everything at home, and escape REALITY for a little while, but then I felt bad for not being with her and quit my job anyway.
My thoughts go out to you and what you are going through!

Thanks everyone! I have been keeping busy the last couple of days. My best friend's mom is not doing well either so we spend lots of time talking about our moms.
I have a really cool pic of Callie that I use. I might make it into an avatar for here. It is one of the last pics I ever took of her. I miss her sleeping with Tinker and I.
