Line Sync problems - Alarm System attached?

Hello,

I just ordered a DSL connection at one of our remote offices and DSL won't sync. I just found out that the 'fax' line is apparently a multi-use line, it has a fax connected to it, in addition to what looks like an alarm system. I'm sure that's what's causing the DSL not to sync with my ST516.

Does anyone have any suggestions on how to go about fixing this and keeping the alarm system in working order? The remote office is a Community Arena and the alarm system is critical - it monitors the temperature of the compressor and notifies us in event of a failure.

Thanks!

Sorry - I'm unsure of the exact model on the alarm system but it seems to be one of the DSC Power Series models.

Ideally a pots splitter at the demarc.
I am running into this more and more.
The alarm is wired with line seizure which means that all the ISW is wired behind the panel.
The line goes from the demarc to the panel and back to the demarc to patch in with any ISW.
Sometimes this can be quite the route. In an arena for sure. Most alarm circuits are quad, or untwisted, cabling.
You need to get a pots splitter on the alarm circuit before it goes on its journey while making sure the dsl stays unfiltered.
You could get bell to move the dsl to another line.
Because the alarm is critical you should probably hire a phone guy to rewire this as another option.
Look in the yellow pages under "Telephone Installation and Repair"

Yeah, the alarm system will be wired in-line, which will need to be changed. It's not overly complicated to run a POTS splitter at the demarc and filter the alarm signal, but for this application I'd want to hire a professional for CYA purposes.

There are liability issues here. If this were a house we could experiment.

When I do these commercial jobs I test everything thoroughly.
I verify with the monitoring station that the alarm is ok and take notes of who I spoke to.
