[WIN7] The Windows 7 upgrade process

»social.technet.microsoft.com/For···required

Got my information from there:
quote:
In order to install Windows 7 Upgrade, you must have a qualifying Windows operating system currently installed.
While at the Windows Desktop, insert the Windows 7 Upgrade disc in the DVD drive. After a few moments the
setup menu will appear and you can select Upgrade or Custom Installation. The Custom Installation option will
start a "clean install" of Windows 7 Upgrade.
I know I had this question and I can imagine others did too.

You can buy Windows Home Premium, Professional and Ultimate editions at a discount until July 11th. Here's the link to purchase: »store.microsoft.com/microsoft/Wi···gory/102

Re: [WIN7] The Windows 7 upgrade process

there doesnt seem to be a discount on win 7 ultimate.
unfortunately, i have vista ultimate installed and cannot upgrade to win 7 professional, i can only do a clean install.

Re: [WIN7] The Windows 7 upgrade process

it would be preferable to do a clean install. but it's understandable if you want to do an upgrade and want to take advantage of that option since it exists.

Re: [WIN7] The Windows 7 upgrade process

for me, i have too many custom tweaks, applications, settings, various external DLL, OCX files that are manually registered, saved form data/cookies and among other things that would take a large amount of prohibitive time to set up again doing a clean install.
