Re: [Vista] Windows 7 Upgrade Question

That's a good question. It seems like once you put in the Win7 CD it will verify that you have a valid license and from that point on during the setup process it will 'clean' out the old OS while installing the new one.

Here's where I'm getting my info from:

Feel free to ask them there too.

I am tempted to say that there will probably be a 'restart' to boot into the CD (much like we're accustomed to seeing with full versions of Windows) but I can't say for certain.
Thanks, I just saw your other thread... It seems you need to start the install (either full or upgrade) from within the qualifying OS (meaning you can't boot the upgrade DVD). That makes sense and I appreciate the info!

[EDIT] On second thought, maybe you can boot the upgrade DVD but must have a valid qualifying product installed before attempting to run Setup...hmmmmm. Now I'm confusing myself even more! LOL!

Let's confuse it a bit more.
If I have the Windows 7 Upgrade DVD and install it on a new HD? Will it ask me for a copy of Vista/XP before I install? Like the old fashioned way with XP upgrades.
