SNR will only tell you if you if the noise floor is too high, it won't indicate if you have transient noise which can adversely affect speeds. I'm waiting for one of the Cox Techs on this forum to look into things, but I've had 2 trucks out this week and both say things are fine here.

That said, what you're seeing on the forums may be simple correlation. Once one person said it, other's likely jumped on the idea and it's gaining momentum. most likely others will observe nothing - if there are issues with a specific frequency they are normally noise or signal issues that are localized - usually at the house

For instance, a bad or kinked cable can introduce impairments specific to one channel or a range of channels

normally, the cable modem will attempt to negotiate the best options with the CMTS but this does always get the 'cleanest' frequency due to a number of factors.

It is a common practice when troubleshooting to force a modem to another frequency if it is realized that one is less desirable or may be the cause of impairments in order to quickly restore service for the customer but this should not preclude fixing the problem over the long term.
