Nikon @ Jones Beach

I went to an OAR concert at Jones Beach a couple of years ago and we bought the tickets at the gate, ending up with front row seats for the general price. I plan to go see Lil' Wayne and also Nickelback this summer and was wondering if we just got lucky since OAR isn't the big of a band or if we should try that again to get good seats. Are these concerts likely to sellout? If that's the case I would just buy the tickets in advance. Thanks for any input.

Take a look at StubHub and see what prices are going for. If they're not too far from face value, it's doubtful. If the prices are super high, then the demand is there because of a potential sellout. Secondary markets are a great barometer.

Tickets are often held for production or band and some get released on the day of show.

Basically, you got lucky and showed up at just the right time.. I wouldnt count on that happening too often.

Nickelback could definitely sell out.. Not so sure about Wayne, but maybe.

Ive seen Aerosmith 11 times. 3 or 4 times, I showed up 3 hours early and nailed front row center. Pretty schweet deal.

I disagree. It doesnt take much to feel youre too far away, and the side views suck. Never liked going to shows there.

Thanks for your thoughts guys. My friend really wants to make sure we see Lil' Wayne so I'm thinking we'll get tickets to that regularly and risk it for Nickelback trying to get close up seats. I'll let you all know how that goes, the Nickelback concert is next week.

That's usually where I nailed my front row tix for Aerosmith. If anything, it's easier because stage setups vary and they have to hold back tix for front row seating because they dont know if its going to be stage or seat in a certain spot.

In case anyone was curious, I went to the Nickelback show last night, which was amazing, and got the tickets on the spot. We got two at Section 1 Row H for $75.50 each. They were pretty good seats but nothing to write home about and certainly not at the front like I got with OAR. I think I'll look to see what is being sold in advanced for Lil' Wayne. I'm not really sure how it works but I guess OAR was just a much less popular band. The first picture (excuse the quality) is the only one I have not zoomed in but it gives you an idea of what section 1 is like.
