| Sirius XM's Mel Karmazin Gets A Pay Raise
He's done such a great job....
"Despite all the tribulations Sirius XM has gone through in the past year, the company’s board has just voted to extend the contract of CEO Mel Karmazin through 2012. As part of the new package, Karmazin receives a pay increase of $250,000 a year and 120,000 options exercisable at 43 cents a share. The stock is currently trading at 46 cents. It has jumped nearly 7% on the news of Karmazin’s contract renewal."

i for one am appalled at the ineptitude/arrogance of the Board of Directors that would not only extend his contract but give him a pay increase when the company has stumbled some since the merger. in just 1 year the stock has lost over 75% of its value.
here is the 'Form 4' that shows that he is getting 120,000,000 shares and when he is getting them (Options vest as follows: 30,000,000 on each of 12/31/2010, 12/31/2011, 6/30/2012 and 12/31/2012).

I've got 2 subscriptions with both XM and Sirius, and when that 1yr. is up, I'll probably cancel both of them, if things in this company don't change.......I really hate it's small playlist, it's annoying to listen to over and over again, how annoying is it to hear the sames ole songs EVERYDAY, it's ridiculous

Mindbogglingly insane. Why on earth would they reward a guy who has now got both Sirius and XM teetering on the brink of disaster? He got saved by the skin of his teeth at the 11th hour a couple of months ago, he won't get lucky forever.
I don't know, I still like XM, I was in a company car with terrestrial only tonight and it seemed like 5 channels were playing Delilah after Dark (gag), and the ones that weren't were crap anyway. But I have to be honest, I find a lot of the DJ's are annoying and talk way too much (hey morons, I didn't get it for you), the nickel and diming is getting old. Sure, I could pay for a "life time subscription" but I'm not sure this company will be around in a couple of years at this rate. First they take away the online stream and make it a tacked on extra fee, now another fee. The next time they charge me more or take away existing value from what I already pay, I'm going to drop down to Mostly Music, and if they keep on I'll just tell them to take a hike.
Thanks Mel. Glad to know I'm paying more for less, so you can get a raise.

Had XM in my infiniti , use the term had , I called to renew , but only if I got the second radio discount. I have 2 sirius radios , a lifetime and a yearly. The guy was adamant about not giving me the discount , so I said F em , I won't sub it.
Ill get an iphone with a data plan and listen to my free streaming that came with my lifetime through the stereo in my car.
I tried to do the right thing , but come on, these companies merged , when do we see the benefits we were promised ?
Worst case they go down like a flaming bag of dog pooh. Then maybe we can start getting hd radio in every car. Doubt that with how much licensing for the hd audio chip is.

FYI - even if you have lifetime account with regular online listening, you still have to pay $2.99/mo for the premium to use the iphone app. You can get 7 day demo accounts with each e-mail address but that gets to be a hassle after a few accounts.
However, you can use Slacker or Pandora for free with your iphone. I use slacker while getting ready in the morning but use my lifetime sirius in my truck on my way to work. I still like the Pulse but probably wouldnt pay $2.99 more. Glad I have the lifetime account for my oem radio. |

The do nothing/nothing right keep getting richer while the middle class keeps diving and the poor just get more poor. The club of the rich has its own rules: play the machine in a way that other uneducated, uninformed share holders and executives and you get a raise even if your job is sending the company down the tubes.
