<description><![CDATA[Libra posted : Hi Indy,<br><br>I thought he told me he set up a profile with his son's help and had the same problem.  I found out today that another account which was already created, had the same problems, not a new one.<br><br>I believe this problem started when he shut down the computer while HP was installing an update.<br><br>He gave the laptop to his son in law, whose brother is an IBM programmer.  Hopefully, he'll be able to fix it.<br><br>Thanks for letting me know about the Yahoo mail being on the servers, I wasn't aware of that.<br><br>Sincerely, Libra]]></description>

<description><![CDATA[chachazz posted : Sounds like XP may be corrupt in some way and need a repair, however, the experts may know better.<br><br>As to DeskSave, well, if there's no stable user account, I guess it's not going to work so well. <description><![CDATA[Libra posted : Hi Cudni,<br><br>HP wanted to install some updates.  One successfully installed and the other had a fatal error.  These updates related to the printer.<br><br>McAffee said the computer wasn't protected.  I managed to get it to update and then it said it was protected.<br><br>The computer was also getting a message from IE 8 congratulating the installation and saying that some HP thingy was not compatible with IE8, so I told it to disable it when it offered to.<br><br>Prior to leaving I uninstalled 2 old javas and Live Update from Semantic (since he has Mcaffee) and an MSN toolbar.<br><br>We changed his desktop wallpaper, icons and gadgets but I have the feeling that when he logs off, those changes will disappear.<br><br>Sincerely, Libra]]></description>

<description><![CDATA[anon posted : I'm trying to help my brother in law.   He's got a Vista laptop and for about a month he's experienced the pc is not remembering it's settings, etc.<br><br>I just did a system restore which was successful to June 21 but after restarting it first said Preparing your Desktop whic took quite a while, when it got to the desktop it was preparing a lot of programs - as though for first use and there was a message  that it couldn't use the profile.  This is the problem he has been experiencing.<br><br>He previously added a new profile to see if that helped and it didn't.  Also, HP and McAffee kept popping up with messages.<br><br>Does anyone have any idea of what is causing this and how to fix it.<br><br>Thank you.<br><br>Sincerely, Libra]]></description>
