You could test it that way and see if the fax is interfering. If it is, the nid splitter will (as least in what I have seen in the past) the best way to go. <br><br>If it is the fax machine doing it, it should do it every time you send or receive a fax. <br><br>Since the 2wire is always studying the DSL, it could be picking it up and determining it as interference. <br><small>--<br>If you have a topic in the direct forum please reply to it or a post of mine, I get a notification when you do this. <br><A HREF="http://www.dslreports.com/forum/remark,12602989~mode=flat">Koetting Ford, Granite City, illinois... <description><![CDATA[<A HREF="/useremail/u/637748"><b>David</b></A> : hmmmmm..... it would be hard not to suspect the dish receiver based on the fact it's replaced. <br><br>I would say if it stays up well over 24 hours keep an eye on it and next time see if the receiver or anything with the filtering in that jack area might be loose. It's a long shot but something just doesn't sound right. <br><br>a rather long, long time ago, there used to be a fax machine out there that would transmit in the DSL frequency range (upstream range) and literally piss most DSL modems on that line off they were connected to. Only fix back then was a nid/sni splitter to make the filtering a bit more extreme. <br><br>If the dish receiver was doing anything of that nature it would make sense with what you saw, and why now it's clear.  Unfortunately, it would be hard telling unless it does it again. Very strange, also keep having 2wire say resolution successful every once in  a while lately]]></description>

Unfortunately AT&T's customer service is completely worthless, and a waste of time to even try to explain the problem your having. As you said they ALWAYS blame the customers computers rather then admit that they have a problem. It's kind of sad that you can get better service through a 3rd party website then you can get from their own customer service... <br>I honestly compare it to talking to a brick... Neither one are going to do anything, but at least when you get pissed off at the brick you can at least throw the brick....  <br><br>There is a good bunch of people on here that are willing to help... I'm glad that this forum is here to pick up the ball when AT&T keeps on dropping it....<br><br>I just wonder when they are going to realize that treating your customers like morons that don't know anything *ISN'T* a good way to keep customers...]]></description>
