2 edits | reply to psx_defector Well, I have had ATT DSL for a good many years and have been through this before. Lost DSL for four or five days one time too!
I have Cat 5 right from the NID where there is one filter only. All outages through the years have never been at my end.
I didn't call the outage MAJOR, you did! I was told that there was a outage in Sterling Heights and I'm 500 yards from that city. As I spoke to the tech, he said less outages were being showing up. Yes, they were working on it but he insisted on looking into my PC settings. Finally got him to give up and give me good dial up numbers as the one I had failed.
So five or six hours later, my SS5100B has all solid green LEDs and all is well again. Again it wasn't my problem
So what do you have to say about that Mr. KnowItAll??? |

Like this thread, because ONE person is down, it's obviously a MAJOR outage impacting two large cities in Michigan. Going out of sync can happen for a myrid of reasons, the vast majority of them not related to a large system outage.
There was someone a while back who was ranting and raving saying AT&T was throttling back connections when it was only him having the problem, with bad info and attitude about even suggesting it was his crap. Which it was.
Now, corollary to that, if someone is out of sync, FTS shouldn't be blaming the customers' PC. But what do you expect from Bangalore Bob? That doesn't negate the fact that the majority of issues do reside on the PC. I bet 75% of the time a tech is dispatched for sync no surf the tech is able to browse without issue using his laptop.
Now, if it is indeed an outage, they will know soon enough and begin repairs. Instead of sitting around, I would suggest doing the standard troubleshooting of no sync just to make sure that all I could do was done. Remove phones, remove filters, plug it in alone on the wiring, and go to the NID if that doesn't work. If it doesn't work after all that, then there is nothing else to do except wait for a tester to call because you ain't getting to the rest of the wiring. |
