Re: Those Who Rented A Car From Enterprise

Enterprise sucks. On the rare occasions I rent from them, they still give me the bullshit lines about really needing their supplemental insurance (I don't), and that my Amex doesn't provide rental car coverage (it does). I don't expect much from a rental car, but is it too much to have a full god damned gas tank when I start out?

AMEX may pay for the damage but may not pay for the "loss of use" charges.

Once they tried to sneak in the insurance charge and hope I wouldn't notice.

I found out, to the tune of $900+. Good thing I kept a copy of the contract I signed... Never enterprise ever again.

I've submitted Amex damage claims twice in the past ten years for rental cars (both parking lot scrape types) and my involvement consisted of (a) a phone call, (b) mailing in the paperwork to Amex, and (c) getting a letter 2 months later saying it was all taken care of.

Then again, I don't rent cards from Billy Bob's Shitbox Rental like the guy in your quoted article.

You are assuming that they tried to charge AMEX for loss of use. They might not have since AMEX is a pretty big account to lose.

And if you read what I wrote, I said they "may not" not that they wouldn't.
