While you're there, could you break the lease as well?"

It will take 5-10 minutes, depending on how busy the network people are, and if you have the cables connected correctly your downtime should be about 4 seconds (depending on if you have to try a DHCP renew on the new device).
--
Opinions expressed here are mine and not my employer's.
[Question] Coax to Cat5 Switchover

Gordo74 : I was recently reading the FAQ about how to put a primary router in front of the actiontec but keep VOD and Guide data. Right now I have it setup as a bridge so the primary router is... seemingly first where my loop goes something like this...

ONT -(Coax)-> Actiontec -(Cat5)-> My router -(Cat5)-> Actiontec.

The first time it goes through the AT, it acts almost like a bridge. This method works well, HOWEVER, everytime the power goes out, it resets the "bridge" part of the AT that I had setup. With me moving out to college in a few months and only my parents and my other brothers who have no idea how to use a computer more than hitting the power button still living in the house, this is pretty crucial to resolve. What I want to do is simply..

ONT -(Cat5)-> My router -(Cat5)-> AT (With Coax attached so the STB's retain VOD and guide data)

I read in the FAQ how to do this and it is pretty straight forward. My question is this. If I run my own cable to the ONT and connect it, is there anything else I have to do, such as calling VZ and asking them to changeover the internet, and furthermore, if this happens, what, if any, downtime can I expect?
--
Ever wonder about the stars?
