Walnut Cove, NC | Your right Scooper and for several years I couldn't get service either.
About 1 1/2 ago Embarq installed some type of equipment that allowed an increase.
Maybe Embarq_Joey can explain

| You got smart coils extended reach. It also helps the line if its on an adsl2+ card. It doesn't work or has lots of trouble if its on the 1st version of adsl. |
