Re: Bad DVR?

This is a HDMI interoperability issue caused by the current software. The box is not defective.

The 6xxx series boxes exhibit fewer HDMI issues than the 7xxx series.

Oh, I thought that problem was an audio only drop out. It's both audio and video?

I am using component cables from the DVR to the reciever and HDMI from the receiver to the TV.

So if it's component from the STB to the receiver, and HDMI from the recevier to the TV, it's an STB HDMI issue? Strange...

That would be a HDMI interoperability issue between your receiver and your TV. The STB would not be a factor.

I had this problem a few months ago - the video just dropped at random times, but the sound was OK . After I got a new DVR, the problem went away.

It could be a timing problem between your exact TV and that exact DVR (just a guess). If they both "meet spec", then there's no problem. If either one is on the hairy edge of spec, then it might stop working intermittently.

Until they fix the firmware, I'd try a new DVR. Maybe you'll have better luck.

I have had a 6xxx box for over 2 years and never had a problem until a few months back, all with the original set-up. The only differnce was I added a STB and software to use the DVR on that STB. But I guess I'll just wait until they get a bigger HD to complain about it.
