GIGABIT join:2008-01-20 Etobicoke, ON | Natural gas BBQ hookup My parents recently had someone hookup an external gas line for them. The installer left them with the attached hookup but the BBQ line does not fit. What am I missing?
Thanks for the help. See attached photos. |

Make sure you use at least Teflon tape on the new brass fitting. Easy as pie, just use a real wrench to firm it up.
Just get the correct size |

Personally, I would call back the person that did the job, and have them come out & install the Quick Connect, since it was paid to be done in the first place. -- I threw out the map a long time ago. mityfowlPremium join:2000-11-06 Dallas, TX | reply to Greg_Z I think it's shitty that the installer didn't put the quick connect on.
'Course we don't know what they paid or if they had the grill then but I think all of these quick connections are the same size. |

Greg_ZPremium join:2001-08-08 Springfield, IL | It is most likely that the 'rents did not tell the installer, and he assumed that they where going to make a more permanent connection, instead of a quick connect. Which yes, you never assume anything. -- I threw out the map a long time ago. Now I follow my own direction! |

herdfanPremium join:2003-01-25 Hurricane, WV | reply to GIGABIT It is outside. Get some pipe dope at HD and tighten the quick connect. Make some solution of dishwashing soap and water and pour it on after you are done. A leak will appear as hundreds of tiny bubbles (unless you have a big leak and then it will be a large obvious bubble). You will be good to go.
And yes it looks like he used a used pipe. |
