it would be preferable to do a clean install. but it's understandable if you want to do an upgrade and want to take advantage of that option since it exists.

for me, i have too many custom tweaks, applications, settings, various external DLL, OCX files that are manually registered, saved form data/cookies and among other things that would take a large amount of prohibitive time to set up again doing a clean install. -- ☺
