[OS X] Itunes...adding to library

I have Syncopation, set up to automagically sync with a remote library....two actually.

I am constantly 'adding' to my main Itunes Library on my G5.

My question is, in order for these tracks to definitely appear in my Itunes 'music' list......do I have to restart/re scan/ rebuild my Itunes Library every once in a while......or will they just get automatically added to it, as well as 'transferred' to my Itunes>Music folder(s)...........????

I'm not sure what you mean by the first question. If you add tracks to your music library they should automatically show up in "music."

As for your second question, there are two ways that iTunes manages music, one of which which involves iTunes copying your files to the Music/iTunes folder for you and keeping the "original" in tact. This can be found under Preferences > Advanced > "Copy files to iTunes Music folder when adding to library." Personally, I leave this turned off for iTunes, but the analogous option turned on for iPhoto. With it off, you need to be sure that you keep your music in one relatively centralized location so you can back it up easily and such.

Thanks.....

I guess I should also really read Syncopation.....

I'm the typical..."Don't need the manual bloke....for everything from plugging in a microwave, to rebuilding a motorcycle engine......and typically, 1/2 way through, the manual comes out!!!!

I have mine set to keep Itunes Music folder organised and automatically copy Music to said folder......basically, my G5 Library IS my main Itunes Library......I have TWO backups......actually 3.....'cos I once DID lose two HD's on the same day.......and the V nice man at Apple said, we will let you download ALL your purchased Itunes content....but, this is a once, and once only offer!!!!!!!
