Re: What Are The Best Options To Forward Google Voice To An ATA

zaldy Gizmo5 is the only service that you can directly forward Google to an ATA. The other way would to use a free DID from such services as IPKall or Sipgate One. I am looking to get the best sound quality and wanted to here what the forum members have experienced using different service providers or combinations of service providers. My guess is that Gizmo5 would probably be rated the highest because it is direct.

1. Gizmo.

The only part of the call that actually travels "through" Gizmo is the SIP. The actual RTP packets go directly to/from your ATA and Google.

Trying to SIP-forward from Gizmo to some other SIP provider will introduce extra latency and points of failure.

Forwarding to an IPkall or similar "free DID" introduces extra latency, points of failure, AND it [unnecessarily] costs Google several cents per minute to complete your call through the PSTN.

True, true. But then again NOT allowing SIP forwarding is also preventing GV from becoming your one-stop-shop for free DIDs (which Google pay for).

Although I have no idea what their actual business plan is (????) - I am sure becoming a free DID provider is not part of it.

Thanks for explaining it to me.
