Re: What Are The Best Options To Forward Google Voice To An ATA 1. Gizmo.
The only part of the call that actually travels "through" Gizmo is the SIP. The actual RTP packets go directly to/from your ATA and Google.
Trying to SIP-forward from Gizmo to some other SIP provider will introduce extra latency and points of failure.
Forwarding to an IPkall or similar "free DID" introduces extra latency, points of failure, AND it [unnecessarily] costs Google several cents per minute to complete your call through the PSTN. |

But then again NOT allowing SIP forwarding is also preventing GV from becoming your one-stop-shop for free DIDs (which Google pay for).
Although I have no idea what their actual business plan is (????) - I am sure becoming a free DID provider is not part of it. |
