I notice that it will increase after someone sends me one of those dopey chain emails.

Even though I can "mark as junk" with Thunderbird, I still prefer Verizon to filter it. And, the only way that seems to work is to log into your account at Verizon Central and mark it as spam there - before your email client retrieves it from the server.
