Re: [Free] Update Ashampoo Burning Studio Free v. 6.76

Not sure i didn't install studio 9 after seeing that. Plus i didn't see the sense in install studio 9 since i already have studio 2009 installed.

After downloading ashampoo burning studio 9 i saw this

and you may be right this version is only a trial.
Any idea for how long the trial period is "extended"?

Don't get me wrong i have used Burn 6 for year, but Burn 2009 has a few things i use and Burn 6 didn't. Plus i got Ashampoo to replace Nero since it became IMO nothing more than bloat ware.

Hmm... That's funny.

For comparison, here's a screenshot of the Free version 6.76.

The development of this product seems to parallel that of Nero where simple useful burning software expands into a massive suite.

The Ashampoo Burn Studio 9 version 9.05 and Ashampoo Burn Studio 2009 look the same to me the only difference i see is that Burn 9.05 one can change the skin color.

Nice comparative analysis! I'm tempted to try the new "free" 9.05, but I'm not sure what to make of this:

Regular sale price is $39.99. This version is free of charge (full version without any limitations) after e-mail registration. Otherwise there is a trial period of 10 days that you can purchase with out any email registration.

The email registration has you agree to occasionally let them send you some marketing information. (IE; new products, special deals, that sort of thing)

Has anybody registered for the free 9.05 yet? If by "marketing information" they mean they're going to be sending the exact same type of harmless, occasional e-mail messages I've been getting since registering for previous free versions of Ashampoo products, I see no problem with this.

Otherwise, I'm quite happy with Burning Studio 2009 8.04!

What is the difference between this free version 6.76 and the free version 9.05 mentioned here?
Version 9.x adds the following features:

* New Movie Editor and Movie Player
* Play all videos, slideshows and movies in the new Movie Player
* New project type: Video Edit DVD with Movie Editor
* Create MP3 or WMA CDs from lists of tracks with multiple formats
* Preview images are now automatically exported to Cover Editor
* New options dialogs for video, audio, decoder, encoder and drive settings
* Selectable program skins for user interface
* Many user settings are saved and reloaded automatically
* Many new burners added to the database
* DVD projects are now saved with all slideshows and movies
* Automatic check for conflicts with other programs with user warning

There is also another free version 2009 which is actually version 8.04. It adds:
    • New Label Designer
    • New animated DVD slideshows
    • QuickTime® support
    • DVD preview with sound
    • Improved performance and compatibility

The screenshot on the MajorGeeks site is actually of this ver. 8 -2009 which makes me wonder if they are actually giving away ver. 9. The download at their site is ver. 9 but I haven't tested to see if it's actually free.

If it is free, than there are at least three different free versions of this software, two of them listed as version "2009." One way to tell which one you are getting is to look at the size and name of the installer.

ashampoo_burning_studio_2009_804_4877.exe (16.7 MB)
