[DVR] DCX3400 - 30 Second Skip Forward

I have recently upgraded to a DCX3400 and would like to be able to skip forward 30 seconds. The quick double push of the play button doesn't work for me. On an old Motorola DVR I had programmed a button with the following:

Press Cable
Press and hold Setup until LED blinks
Press 9 9 4
Press setup again (don't hold)
Press 0 0 1 7 3
Press the button you want to program to skip 30 seconds forward
LED should blink twice

This doesn't work on my DCX3400. Any ideas?

BTW, I have found the Page up and Page down buttons will either fast forward or rewind 5 minutes per push.

Thanks!

I have not tested this, nor even see the remote or DX converters, but I'm told this works with the new Moto DX remotes (YMMV):

1) Select Aux
2) Hold setup 2 flashes
3) type 01376 2 flashes

1) Select Aux button
2) Hold SETUP, 2 flashes
3) Type 994, 2 flashes
4) Tap SETUP
4) Enter the 00173
5) Tap the button to be programmed, 2 flashes

Thanks to koshoka and lilhurricane. I tried this and it works (yeah!), but of course the Aux button is now committed to working as a cable remote (I had been using it for an audio receiver).

Two questions:

1) How do I undo what I have just done and allow the Aux button to be used again as an audio receiver remote? The standard method I used previously doesn't work.
2) If I do use the Aux button for an audio receiver, is there a way to program a 30 second skip?

I think I understand that the 01376 code is programming the Aux function to work like the old silver Comcast remote (?). What would I lose by programming the Cable button using 01376?

I very much appreciate everyone's help.

yea I had this problem too, I had to get help over at the jp1 forum which luckly they helped me! I forgot to post it here, so here it is

I know I was not the only one looking for this. Since I couldn't find an answer I had to head over to the JP1 forums (they make the remotes) and found some very nice helpful people. I would like to thank vickyg2003 a forum regular over at JP1 Remotes as well as Rob for directing me to the forums.

1)Select Aux
2) Hold setup 2 flashes
3) type 01376 2 flashes

1) select Aux button
2) Hold SETUP, 2 flashes
3) Type 994, 2 flashes
4) Tap SETUP
4) Enter the EFC 00173
5) Tap the button to be programmed [Cbl][triangle], 2 flashes

Make sure on step 5 you hit cbl button first before triangle. Again all credit goes to vicky over at JP1. Here is the original post

Please register over there and give thanks if you have time! I just wanted to post it here since I didn't even know who made the comcast remotes before I started looking around cause I couldn't get skip to work. I can confirm this is working.

the trick is hitting the cable button then the button you want to skip that way you put the skip button under cable and not aux

The only issue I had with D Smoke's fix on my Motorola DCX3400 with the new "bronze" Comcast remote was that by reprogramming the Aux button to control the Moto, the following issue arose. When I turn on the equipment using the "All On" button on the remote, it would:

1. Turn on the cable box
2. Turn on the TV
3. Turn OFF the cable box

This occurred because the remote automatically cycles through all three entries (Cable, TV and Aux) when you press the "All On" button (the same issue arises when turning off everything).

The fix is to use the technique described by D Smoke but then go back and reprogram the Aux button to something other than "01376." (Mine was originally programmed to "20503.") Once I made this last change, absolutely everything works as I hoped.

Thanks to D Smoke for posting the codes and to vickyg2003 at JP1 Remotes.

Sorry about the long quote and post but I wanted to keep all of this together.

or instead of putting in codes doesn't the page up page down buttons on your remote do the jumps?

Page Up / Page Down jumps by 5 minute increments on these remotes. The fix above adds a 30 sec. skip ahead.

You need to tap cable before tapping the button to be programmed. You don't need to tap the triangle button. Here's the complete process:

1) Select AUX
2) Hold SETUP 2 flashes
3) type 01376 2 flashes

1) Select AUX
2) Hold SETUP, 2 flashes
3) Type 994, 2 flashes
4) Tap SETUP
4) Enter the EFC 00173
5) Tap CABLE
6) Tap the button to be programmed, 2 flashes

After this is complete, go back and set AUX back to your usual auxiliary device code.

So I am fine with AUX assuming the new role of cable, doing the 30 sec skip and going to guide and changin channels, but what about volume? I had set up the remote so that when I was on cable the volume would autimatically switch to tv and change volume and then I would not need to chane again. How do I do that w/ AUX? are there any other things I am loosing too?
