Re: [Poll]PPPoE or DHCP?

FiOS users in some areas originally installed PPPoE were able to simply change router settings to DHCP. Can these users change their routers again and be back on PPPoE?

If Verizon offers both, why not allow the user to decide which they prefer?

Down side of my IP is that it's geolocated to my CO.

PPPoE is also geolocated. Pretty cool. What's the down side?

I've had my DHCP WAN IP for so long, it's as if it's a static IP. The only reference point I've seen for staying on PPPoE is the ease in getting a new IP. Most of them who wanted that seemed to use it for hiding their IP.

Down side of my IP is that it's geolocated to my CO.

and pppoe these days really doesnt do much to hide you. Constant shifting of ip's really only means they just bank your fq dn and mask so i dont see the point.

im pppoe and only would like dhcp cause then my router doesnt have to think so hard....the overhead does add up but its the extra thinking that i would remove..
