Sorry...I've got my devices a bit mixed up...what is supposed to be available are the Tru-Two Way Cable Cards NOT the multi-room DVRs. Didn't have my coffee before I posted, apparently.

Still doesn't make sense... All CableCARDs are 2-way and tru2way compatible, as it's part of the spec, and the FCC required CableCARDs to be available years ago.

Exactly what is device is being released?

All I can tell you is what the CSR told me, and I can't vouch for the accuracy of same. The question I asked was: "When will multi-room DVRs be available in my area. What I was told was that they had no idea about that, but that Tru2Way CableCards would be available the third week of July. I don't dispute your description of the cable card spec...heck I used one a few years ago in a Sony XBR960 TV when I was with Comcast in another city. From looking at the card information pages when it was working, it appeared to have an IP address and so I would imagine it was, in some way a two way card. I'm not an expert on the Tru2Way spec. so I don't profess to offer any useful information about it here. Frankly, I couldn't care less about any cable cards, two way or any way. All I want is a multi-room DVR.

Ok, what it sounds like is that the local system is going to be ready to support retail 3rd party tru2way devices and they will be able to provision/issue CableCards for those devices if requested.
