Happy Birthday to 2 great countries.

We know that with local number portability, the correct paperwork is of prime importance.

So it was also for American Independence.

The most crucial vote for Independence was on July 2, 1776, and John Adams expected that would become the date marked by future generations.

But the paperwork---the Declaration itself---prominently features the date of July 4, and that became our holiday.

(And the various delegates did not sign the document until August, according to some accounts, although there is some dispute about that).

Happy Birthday to our country!

And the same to our Canadian neighbors, who marked their national birthday on July 1.

On this holiday let us also remember US military service members and Canadian Forces members, at home and all over the world.

As a Canadian living in the USA,
congrats to both countries!

Yes, they are two great countries indeed. (As are all countries.)

The USA is fortunate to be located so close to Canada. Let's hope that we someday follow the progressive footsteps of our northern neighbors by granting the rights of health care and marriage to all of our citizens.
