| reply to Phila Tech Re: New HD DVR boxes in the Philadelphia?
said by Phila Tech :
We are using these boxes in Area 2(North, Northwest, Southwest, West Philadelphia). Except, the ones we have been using are the 250 gig model. I hope they will come to the Far NorthEast Philly Area 19152 before the year ends |

| reply to gate1975mlm While i have not, my roommate who has his own comcast account got the letter in the mail for the glen ellyn area. Some channels are going to a different package and it talks about a digital adapter. Same letter as everybody else. I wonder if i did not get it because i have a digital box on all my tv's. -- The day the child realizes that all adults are imperfect, he becomes an adolescent; the day he forgives them, he becomes an adult. | reply to gate1975mlm I believe I saw a couple of these on the stack of DVRs on the shelf in the office in Bensalem, back like 3 weeks ago when I turned in a DVR box. I didn't ask, but it looked smaller than the old 34xx boxes it was on top of, and had round vent holes on the side.
I won't be getting a DVR again till fall, gives them time to work out the HDMI bug(hopefully) and get some more stocked up. Since my promo ended, I trimmed about $70/mo off my cable bill by going to limited basic. Once fall comes 'round, I'll be eligible for a new promo. A little bit of legwork but big savings. |

Goober Premium join:2000-12-17 Naperville, IL | reply to djdanska HDMI can definitely be finicky. It took several ATI driver releases before the HDMI got fixed in my HTPC.
But, in the end, I'd rather have the newer box with greater capacity than the old. |

| reply to Goober said by Goober :said by djdanska :Oh, and i can't get hdmi to work for more than 10 seconds. Have to use component. Something about a firmware update coming eventually. Crap, I hope that isn't true with my equipment. That would be a PITA. When i called comcast, i was told either to use component, wait a few months, or get an older box. I will wait for a firmware update. When i checked the internet, motorola finished a firmware update earlier this week and sent it to comcast and other providers and when comcast finishes testing it, will be rolled out through the system.
All i get is a green screen with audio. Not everybody has this issue though. -- The day the child realizes that all adults are imperfect, he becomes an adolescent; the day he forgives them, he becomes an adult. The day he forgives himself, he becomes wise. Alden Nowlan |

2 edits | reply to gate1975mlm They have these out in the west burbs of chicago. Got one in the mail a few days ago. pretty sweet looking box! The remote for it doesn't like the 30 second skip but the old silver remote still works. The new one must be different. I think page up or down does skip 30 seconds though. It's 250 gig. edit: Oh, and i can't get hdmi to work for more than 10 seconds. Have to use component. The HD STB from the Cable Co. are for limited Time Shifting only. Record a show and watch it and then delete it. They do not care about long term storage for there users. |

| reply to gate1975mlm Are we getting the x32 (320GB) model? There's another thread where it said (I thought) Comcast was only getting the x25 (250GB) model. Even 250GB is a nice improvement over the 120GB/250GB models we have now.
Still, I want to vomit everytime I get a newegg.com email announcing another 1TB drive sale for $100 or less. Now that really would have been nice.
