Re: New router need to notify Comcast? When you hook it up to your cable modem just make sure you restart your modem. To do this on a normal modem, just unplug it for 10 seconds, then plug it back in. On an eMTA hit the reset/restart button on the back (this will cut off the phones in the home for a few minutes).
