Heh, well, from the responses above, this mostly served to prove that it's a duopoly for "wired" service. I did notice Speakeasy (who end up deploying via Covad, right?) offer a DSL+VoIP package that's probably somewhat competitive, as far as including the 'premium' feature of static IPs. Maybe some lesser-knowns also have something like that.

... after giving it some thought, I'm a little leery of having MS-based set-top-boxes on the same 'LAN' as regular machines in an otherwise MS-free house, but that's just personal paranoia and an equal concern with any true IPTV system - either you trust the STBs or you have to take appropriate steps to isolate them.
