" when i try L4D at that res it sucks. no matter what cpu i use it sucks."
That's because your weak graphics card is the bottleneck even at that low resolution. A 9400gt just won't cut it for l4d.
We would have to talk about a graphics card upgrade to a 4670 or 4850. We can discuss this more if you are interested but I see money is tight right now.
Yes I would use the quad core. It's better for source games anyway. |

| reply to jrsaysbiteme I play fps games. My graphics card is a geforce 9400 GT and if it matters i run xp, not vista. I mostly play counterstrike source at 1280x1024 which when i try L4D at that res it sucks. no matter what cpu i use it sucks. I would invest in a better cpu but my gf told me im going to be a father in march so i have to start savin for the kid. If anything should i just through the quad core back in the pc? |

The X2 6000+ should be slightly faster for games, but you probably wouldn't notice the difference. On the other hand, the Phenom would excel at media encoding tasks. |

| reply to jrsaysbiteme I would use the 9500. It isn't faster in everything. In some games the 6000 will be faster, though not in all games. But in the things the 9500 is faster at it will be considerably faster, whereas in the things the 6000 is faster at it will be only modestly faster. In games your graphics card is likely a bigger issue than differences between these cpus. Overall the 9500 is the better choice.
If there is one key game you are worried about tell us about your graphics card, what game we are talking about, and what resolution you want to run it at. Also you can tell us what video software you are using. If any of this would change my opinion, which I doubt, I will let you know. |

| I have both of these cpu's but i dont know which one to run. AMD Phenom X4 Quad-Core OR AMD Athlon X2 Dual-Core.
The quad core is a 9500 model and is 2.2GHz. The dual core is the 6000+ model and runs at 3.1 GHz. Im a gamer and i like to convert hd video for my 360. Which one should i use. Im mostly asking cause i cant decide.
Thankyou |
