LAX Long Term Parking Suggestions

Hi Group,

Taking some time off out of the country with the family to visit friends and family in late July. I am driving from San Diego and want to leave our car in a long term parking lot near LAX Total time about 18 days.

Any personal recommendations or suggestions?

Thanks, CDMA

PS: Happy 4th!

Re: LAX Long Term Parking Suggestions

lots of coupons online... just search LAX parking. I used the yellow dot place once. They had nice padded dividers between the cars.

If you are going to be gone that long, you might consider one of the services to drive you to the airport. Does SD have any Airport Express service?

They have shuttles that run every 10 minutes depending on traffic and they drop you off at the terminal you need.

Thank you everyone for the info, it is appreciated. We are traveling with a 1-year old, that is why we are driving our own car and leaving it there.

I will check the links you provided in the thread. Question: do these shuttles provide a car-seat for the baby, or are they expecting you bring your own, or can it be requested in advance?

Don't you need a car seat for your destination??

Would you fell safer on the plane with your child in a car seat?

I will tell you one to avoid--Johnny Park. My car was damaged when I parked there last Christmas and they did not give a shit. Someone grabbed my little chrome antenna and snapped it off. Their workers park the car and bring it to you when you return, so it was not just someone who parked nearby. Either they dont patrol the lot at all or their workers enjoy breaking stuff. Their shuttles were also slow. Anyway, they just gave me a lot of attitude and wouldnt pay for the repair.

I like the Hilton on Century. It might not be the cheapest place (it isnt) but I have used it many times and never had a problem. They have a lot of shuttles and good service.

I concur.
I left it there once. I was not feeling good about it.

It reminding me of the guys that "parked" Ferris Bueller's Ferrari. (ok, Cameron's Dad's Ferrari).

I use WallyPark routinely as I fly international a lot.
I belong to thier frequent parkers club (or whatever they call it).

I heard the Parking Spot is good too.

Both have padding between the cars.

Lot B is the least expensive LAX lot - it's adjacent to the employees parking lot and you share the bus with them and so it comes and goes very frequently. $8 per day.

Or if you want a bit of an adventure, take the train to Union Station and then take the LAX Flyaway bus for $6 per person. You can park at the Flyaway bus station for $6 per day and it's underground and guarded.

someone mentioned that they were under new management, which may not be a good thing.... but i'd still go there. no problems, ever.

I routinely use 105 Airport Parking. Just a plain long-term parking service - nothing fancy. They have a coupon for $9/day, $11 for valet parking and they're fairly close to the airport - Imperial and Sepulveda.

Re: LAX Long Term Parking Suggestions

I used them once, when I had a crappy car. They really stack in the cars though.

@cox.net

Even after reading many of the posts, I could not determine if there was a clear 'best' place to park, so I called around to Park 'n Fly, The Spot, WallyPark, and a few others. After the phone conversations, reading the reviews, and getting quotes, for my trip last week - I chose Park 'n Fly @ Park One. It started well - easy to find, shuttle picked me up, etc...HOWEVER, upon returning, my experience went from good to absolute frustration!

When I got to the cashier, contrary to what I was told on the phone (using their 800 #), I could not combine the only coupon currently offered (FREE Day with Minimum 3 Day Stay) with the rate they quoted me at - even though I had print outs for the rate, the coupons, etc....!

I returned from the cashier and went across the lot to the managers office and met Andy Tran (the manager on duty). He not only treated me poorly but seemed to prefer to lose a regular traveler than offer any type of assistance. He wouldn't even admit that in the history of offering parking service at Park n Fly that the firm/employees had ever once made an honest mistake, misstated a quote, or honestly provided an incorrect statement based on confusion. It was unconscionable - he offered nothing. From his point of view - it was my fault and my fault alone and he wasn't going to budge/let alone admit that Park n Fly would ever make that mistake. It was disgusting.

In summary - I paid the $35 or so dollars more and they lost a potentially loyal customer and one who isn't afraid to speak out.

Going forward - I'll try the spot, but never again will I trust Park n Fly. Disgraceful.

Parking Lot C is where I've been parking lately. Certainly not the most convenient, but they have good rates. »www.airport-la.com/parking/lot.php?id=7

Don't park. Rent a car. Drop it off. Much cheeper and you can get a large SUV for your luggage. Did that last year, and was happy I did.

Not from San Diego I don't think, but it would be cool if you provided the math on that. It might be close. (Enterprise rent a car would pick him up from his house during normal hours right?)

I would like to take this opportunity to thank SoCalFreqTrav for the follow up (Have you considered registering and joining us?). We get a lot of Bozo's jumping in here asking for help, we take our time to provide useful information and then we never hear back from them...and a lot of times don't even get a thank you.

BTW, are users with a New York location tag still persona non grata around here?

Nope, only that one guy, HardwareGeek.

As for the one who had just moved here from the NYC area and started in complaining how this and that was better "back home", I can't remember his name. He disappeared and never came back immed after the joyous welcome we laid on him.

Last year
about 160 (2 X about 80) for a car to LAX from Victorville and to Victorville from LAX. Large SUV to carry 5 people and Luggage.

Lot C $11 per day X 9 = $99 X2 for 2 cars to carry everything (we have small cars) = 181.

You must have gotten a deal then. RARELY would any rental car rate be the same renting in one place and returning at the airport as it would be renting at the airport and returning somewhere else, especially a spot so far from the airport.

I try and avoid the Airport-owned lots. Not sure if it still happens, but there were groups of thieves that would enter the lots at night and spend several hours there, waiting for landing planes to fly overhead and they would then break in to vehicles and help themselves. No one would hear the glass breaking due to the planes' noise. Alarms always trigger with a lot of noise too, so no one paid any attention to them. If you do park there, always ask one of the "attendants" if they "know" of a good spot (have a $20 ready). They'll always pull their car out of a spot right next to the shuttle bus stop for you.

I've gotten $40 one way rentals from Palmdale to LAX or vice versa from Avis, the desk there said it was a common thing to do.

Personally my issue is similar to another poster, I'm not going to take a child seat on a trip where I will never need it and I'm not going to use some funky thing the rental company might or might not have.

Hence I park in Lot C, don't have anything in the car except the car seat and a few flares and never have a problem.

I've used LAX Park Place a few times. I've always been satisfied. They are inexpensive and I've never had to wait long for the shuttle. The shuttle drivers were always very helpful with the luggage. My car has always come back in great shape.

On the negative side, they aren't super friendly. They aren't unfriendly, they just don't say that much is all. Its all business. Their website is a little 1997. You have to make sure you make a reservation to park there. Don't just show up and expect a parking spot. I don't mind any of that. I'll continue to use them.

Update:

Just to let everyone know that I ended up using Auto Airport Parking ( »www.autoairport.com ) and I will definitely use them again. They have covered parking and are very close to the airport.

Their whole staff was very friendly and helpful, from the moment I called them the first time to the time they picked us up at LAX. I left my car there for nearly 18 days for a total of $157.00 which is about $9.00/day with valet parking. I had no problems with the car at all, no scratches or any thing.

I would definitely recommend them.

Thanks to everyone for providing their feedback and experiences on this issue.
