Terminating Embarq DSL before contract is over.

I had no problems with Embarq until a about week ago when
I started getting a lot of service interruptions and now no internet at all.

I called them this morning they told me that my IP has been reported for "spamming/phishing" or other policy violation.

I asked the lady to be more specific but she kept repeating that I violated some policy.

Now when I asked her to cancel the internet because I have no service, she said I could not because of verbal contract.

What are my choices here?

I am not completely leaving Embarq. They are still my home phone provider.

Don't pay the internet portion of your bill?

Did you speak to the AUP department about it, or just a customer service representative? If you were suspended for a violation of the terms, you should have been transferred to AUP, unless they weren't open.

And AFAIK they can't NOT let you cancel - you'll just have to pay a contract termination fee.

Well first, you need to figure out which one of your computers are infected. As you will be terminated by Embarq if it continues as with any other provider. Embarq will suspend accounts for AUP violations which are mainly due to trojoans running in phishing sites on unsuspected customer PC's. Ask to speak to the AUP dept.
