1 edit | reply to bi yearly I heard it again yesterday so that's why im asking it.
The best part is that they said that to someone who wanted to subscribe to bell TV and now that person is waiting for the IPTV service to roll out instead of getting bell tv.
I don't know but it seem pretty obvious that with nimiq 4 and nimiq 5 coming soon we are far from IPTV roll out unless some people here know stuff that can't be said. |

| if iPTV were really that close, they wouldn't keep dumping money into satellite TV...that service is VERY costly to run and maintain and expansion is limited to satellite capacity (of which, there is only so much available)...adding more costs hundreds of millions of dollars, if not over a billion...until Bell can get more widespread coverage of their 16+MB internet service, don't expect it any time soon. -- Today's motto: Dearly beloved, We are gathered here today to bid farewell to personal responsibility and accountability. |

Or at least if they do - to offer it as a "best effort" service, and not a total replacement of a real digital TV service. |

LOL everything with Bell is not guaranteed in any way, shape or form. You have to read through a mountain of Bell legal to know ever single service they have is called "best effort". Even their hardware is "best effort". |

They are slowly deploying, problem is there will still be limited deployments but some parts of Montreal and the GTA already have the hardware deployed, just need to flip the switch. The reason they are still dumping money into satellite is because they have almost complete coverage over Canada which means they can attract a far more number of customers. Me personally I wouldn't touch that IPTV or satellite for various reasons but that's just me. |

| My gut tells me that IPTV will be primarily aimed at 2 purposes:
Video on Demand. Cable has it, Satellite can't have it. IPTV allows that.
Appartment buildings. Many appartment buildings have "no satellite antenna" rules, or have exclusive contracts with Star Choice *(or whatever its name is this week). IPTV over ADLS2 would allow tennants to bypass those rules to get service. |

2 edits | reply to Mont FAIL and more FAIL when they understand they are to be a dumb pipe they might actually start making money and the funny part is so far they tried a movie place online next up to fail IPTV.
and tell me again why i want to pay for something and then pay again and again and again with limited space to store it, with of course bell's lovely service record and employees they hire in canada during a recession? |
