Right Blinker Out (dash), External Lights and Hazards Work

Got an interesting question, was hoping someone over here could help a bit (if it were a PC, LOL, I'd have an easier time of it).

2005 Civic, LX, 4dr.

Dashboard blinker comes and goes (mostly goes). Just the one side. External flashers/lights work during turns, clicking noise works in both directions, but the dashboard lamp indicator when I signal a turn to the right just doesn't show up (yes, I have been one of those guys that looks like he his switching lanes for miles, and I can't stand myself for it). All other lights on the interior work and as far as I can tell, that one light is not on its own fuse.

Any thoughts? Flasher Relay? dying bulb (there do NOT seem to be any replacements listed on the net, unless I am searching wrong). Everyone else seems to have either external light failure or something that always affects both left and right.

Thanks in advance and Happy Fourth!

The reason you think I'm way on the left is cause you're so far to the right.

Re: Right Blinker Out (dash), External Lights and Hazards Work

Update. OK. removed my cluster, the bevel, the back cover, and the front cover and drilled down to the circuit board and the gauges.... and I ain't removing the needles to get a closer look because the back of the circuit board leads me to believe that these lights are soldered on.

Putting it back together now, but if the led is soldered on, could the fault be elsewhere? Why only one internal turn indicator? Hmmmm......

I'd hate to think I need a new cluster just for a turn signal.....

I'd guess a cold solder joint. If you still have the circuit board out look very closely at the solder joints, you may find a pin that has too little solder, or no solder at all.
I once had an issue with an old Chevette, where one side of the ribbon cable going to the instrument cluster had come off just enough to cause the end conductor to not make contact.

Re: Right Blinker Out (dash), External Lights and Hazards Work

Thanks. Yeah. I couldn't id where exactly on the reverse of the circuit board the LED was (the gauge needles didn't really look like they wanted to come off and I couldn't find any posts along those lines for an 05).

Putting it back together (and like you I was wondering about the cables) didn't fix it either! LOL!

I will continue to do some research and see if there is another answer, but I think I will end up paying the local junkyard a visit (I really prefer the OEM look).

Unless anyone else has any thoughts?
